Travelling Abroad with Pooch
Allowing your dog to be a part of your trip abroad can be heaps of fun! Of course, you have to make the right preparations so that things would go smoothly as much as possible. Here are a few tips to guide you in making those correct arrangements.
First off, you have to clarify first the particular rules of the country you are travelling to with regards to bringing your dog along. Find out as well if there are dog-friendly accommodations and car-hire services at your destination. You should also be mindful about airline rules, as some do not allow pets and some consider your dog as cargo.
Once you are sure that you can fly with your dog towards the destination of your choice, it is now time to have your canine friend microchipped. This can be arranged through your veterinarian. This is a must because the microchip will be able to help you if ever your dog gets lost. Plus, most countries do not allow dogs to enter their borders without a microchip, so you really have to do it.
Aside from this, you also have to have your canine friend undergo an anti-rabies vaccination. In the UK, the vaccination must be done 21 days before your trip. Once your pet has developed enough antibodies (which is to be determined through a blood test), a passport will then be issued for it. Finally, during the day of the trip, make sure that the proper precautions to prevent your pet from being stressed are taken. With these, you can now travel together to your holiday destination!
