Making Your Home Dog-Friendly

When you own a dog, it is essential that you make your house conducive to your pet. This is not spoiling your canine friend; this is doing what you can to prevent headaches on your part.

So for starters, you have to make sure that your floors can withstand the constant running around and play of your dog. As mentioned, you will just get headaches if your floors get continually scratched by canine nails. Even though trimming your dog's nails can help, it is still best to get dog-friendly floors such as a tiled one or one made of hard wood (mahogany, cherry, elm, oak, sycamore, hickory, etc.). It is best that you avoid carpeting your floors altogether, because these can accumulate shed hairs and a lot of germs that can cause allergies in the house.

As for your furniture, it is best that you get hardy ones. Chairs, tables, and cabinets should again be made of hard woods or other scratch-resistant materials. If you have couches, invest now in slip covers or those couches made of leather and faux leather. They will make it easy for you to remove shed hairs or stains easily, and allow you to avoid dog odours. It is also best to get furniture in darker or patterned colours, not white. This way, stains made by your dog will be easy to hide. Finally, make sure that you do not place a lot of breakable objects in the rooms that your dog can access.

With all these, your home now becomes more dog-friendly and much better for a dog owner like you to live in too!
